Myungga II Review: NO GST Korean Restaurant with Generous Portions
Myungga II
Myungga II is a Korean restaurant in Tanjong Pagar known for generous portions, no GST charges, and complimentary kimbap samples. The value is excellent, especially with their set menus.
What We Ordered
Right when we sat down, the owner surprised every table with free kimbap samples. Not just one type, but three different varieties to try!
Free Kimbap Samples

Tuna Mayo Kimbap 💰 FREE · ⭐ 10/10💰 FREE · ⭐ 10/10
This was my favourite of the free samples!! The tuna filling was incredibly generous and paired perfectly with the creamy mayo. The vegetables added a nice crunch that balanced everything out. (PS. you can ask for it a rice-less kimbap filled wrapped eggs instead for a low card, higher protein option :p)
Spicy Pork Kimbap 💰 FREE · ⭐ 9/10💰 FREE · ⭐ 9/10
This was one of the complimentary samples given to every table! The spicy pork elevated the whole dish and was a more refreshing and tangy option than the tuna kimbap!
Bulgogi Kimbap 💰 FREE · ⭐ 10/10💰 FREE · ⭐ 10/10
The beef was flavourful with a nice sweet-savoury balance, and I liked how they used less rice as well so that more beef could be packed into the kimbap. The fresh vegetables complemented it well.
Kimchi Pancake 💰 $20 · ⭐ 10/10💰 $20 · ⭐ 10/10

This was easily one of the best dishes of the meal. Perfectly crispy and packed with delicious kimchi. The portion is huge, so the $20 feels justified. One of the better kimchi pancakes I've had in Singapore.
Doenjang Jjigae 💰 $17 · ⭐ 9/10💰 $17 · ⭐ 9/10

This soybean paste stew with beef brisket comes with rice. It was such a comforting and hearty dish. They're super generous with the ingredients as the stew came with a heaping amount of vegetables and tender beef brisket.
Donkatsu 💰 $20 · ⭐ 7/10💰 $20 · ⭐ 7/10

The portion is massive, much bigger than it looks in photos. It comes with a sweet sauce that caught me off guard since I expected something more like Japanese curry. The pork cutlet was flavourful but slightly dry, hence why the lower rating.
Mul-Naengmyeon 💰 $17 · ⭐ 8/10💰 $17 · ⭐ 8/10

This cold noodle dish is refreshing with chewy noodles and a tangy sauce. The beef brisket was tender and tasty. It's quite an acquired taste though, as i enjoyed this dish alot, while some of my friends didnt. So definitely up to your personal preference!
Original Spam Kimbap 💰 $11 · ⭐ 9/10💰 $11 · ⭐ 9/10

I don't usually go for spam, but this changed my mind. The sesame oil made everything fragrant, and they're incredibly generous with the fillings. The rice to filling ratio is spot on, and everything tasted fresh with good texture contrast.
PS!! They now also serve keto tuna and chicken breast kimbaps that are wrapped with extra eggs instead of rice for more protein! :) You can ask for no sauce / sauce on the side to make it more macro friendly as well. Out of curiousity we decided to order the keto kimbaps with no sauce and it was surprisingly still so delicious and juicy even without any sauce.
Overall Thoughts
This spot is definitely worth a visit just for the service alone! You feel right at home with the warm and hospitable lady boss and staff. The complimentary kimbap samples, no GST policy, and large portions also makes this spot stand out so much more from other korean spot i've visited in Singapore.
Would I return? Yes! This is my go to spot for good korean food hehe
