What We Ordered

Roasted Lamb ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:34 The roasted lamb was incredibly juicy and tender, and I loved the creamy sauce served over the top. The richness of the meat paired beautifully with the sauce, making this one of the standout dishes from the carving section.

Wood-Fired Pizzas ⭐ 8.5/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:31 There were several pizzas available, with different toppings to choose from. I especially appreciated that the pizzas had a thinner crust, making it much easier to try a few different flavours without getting full too quickly. They were great for sharing and perfect for anyone who loves Italian food.

Seafood Linguine ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:41 The seafood linguine was honestly SO good. The pasta had a nice bite, while the mussels and clams added plenty of natural sweetness and flavour. Everything was coated in a delicious sauce that wasn't overly heavy, making it one of those dishes I could easily go back for another serving of.

Other Pastas ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:40 The Wagyu Beef Lasagna (left on image) was incredibly comforting and indulgent. There were generous layers of rich beef, pasta and melted cheese, creating a beautifully hearty dish that felt like proper Italian comfort food. Definitely one of my favourites from the hot food selection.

For anyone who loves creamy pasta, the Creamy Mushroom Pasta (right on image) was another solid choice. The sauce was rich and smooth, while the mushrooms added plenty of earthy flavour. It was definitely on the heavier side, so I'd recommend taking a smaller portion first to save room for all the other dishes.

Truffle Pasta Pastry ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:27 This incredibly indulgent truffle-topped dish, and the amount of freshly shaved truffle on top immediately caught my attention. The earthy aroma paired beautifully with the creamy, cheesy base underneath, making every bite rich, fragrant and seriously addictive. If you're a truffle lover, you definitely need to go for this.

Meats ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:33 One of my favourite things about the buffet was the Freshly Grilled Beef (left on image). It was sliced beautifully and still pink in the middle, with a tender texture and plenty of natural beefy flavour. Definitely a must-try if you're heading here for dinner.

The Pork ribs (right on image) were tender and coated in a rich, savoury sauce. The meat came away easily from the bone and was packed with flavour, making it another great option from the hot food section.

Cheese Selection ⭐ 9.5/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:26 The cheese selection was one of the highlights of the entire buffet. Basilico is known for its impressive cheese room, and there was such a huge variety to explore. From creamy and mild cheeses to richer and more intense options, there was something for every cheese lover. Pair them with the grapes and other accompaniments and you could honestly build an entire meal around this section alone.

Cold Cuts, Breads & Smoked Salmon ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:36 The antipasti section had a great selection of freshly baked breads, IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:37 cold cuts and smoked salmon. Everything felt fresh and beautifully presented, and there was plenty of variety to create your own Italian-style starter plate before moving on to the heavier mains.

Desserts ⭐ 9/10

IMAGE 2026 09 02 12:07:30 The dessert section was HUGE. There was such a wide variety of cakes, pastries and sweet treats that it was genuinely difficult to decide what to try. One of my favourites was the bread pudding paired with the creamy custard sauce, which was warm, comforting and absolutely delicious. Definitely save room for dessert because you won't want to miss this section.

Overall Thoughts

Basilico genuinely impressed me with both the quality and variety of its buffet spread. There was so much more than just the usual hotel buffet selection, with plenty of Italian favourites including freshly made pasta, wood-fired pizzas, premium roasted meats, antipasti, cold cuts and an incredible cheese selection.

The standout dishes for me were the truffle-topped dish, seafood linguine, wagyu beef lasagna, roasted lamb and freshly grilled beef. The cheese room was also a huge highlight, especially for anyone who loves exploring different types of artisanal cheese.

What I really enjoyed was that the buffet felt indulgent without being repetitive. There were so many different sections to explore, from comforting Italian dishes to premium meats and seafood, before finishing with the huge dessert spread.

Would I return? Absolutely!!!
