Singapore's Freshest Fish 'n' Chips At This Unique Cafe?

Published Mar 9, 2026

Harvest Union Market Cafe & Bar

Imagine ordering Fish & Chips and the fish was literally taken fresh from the market next door... That’s exactly what happens at this cafe! Fresh fish cooked on order, which makes the texture unbelievably flaky and fresh.

But that’s not even the most unique part… Right outside the cafe is a durian stall, so you can enjoy durians immediately after your meal. 🤤 IMAGE 2026 03 09 09:32:19

What We Ordered

Pesto Primo 💰 $15.90 · ⭐ 8/10

Their fresh pesto sauce is herby and nutty in all the right ways, coating every strand of pasta properly. The salmon was fresh and creamy, albeit slightly fishy (but negligible, this is just me nitpicking 🤣). The salmon added richness without overwhelming the pesto which i was impressed by.

Fresh Barramundi Fish & Chips 💰 $19 · ⭐ 9/10

This was excellent. The barramundi had that perfect meaty yet tender texture you only get with truly fresh fish. The batter was crispy without being greasy, and the fries were properly seasoned and crispy. You can genuinely taste the difference when fish comes from the market next door rather than a freezer.

Supersized Salad 💰 $13.90 · ⭐ 7/10

The name doesn't lie. This uses a whole head of lettuce and comes with croutons and dressing. Good crunch and refreshing, but nothing particularly special. The portion was generous enough to justify the price, though.

Durian Latte 💰 $14.90 · ⭐ 9/10

A solid choice if you're into durian. The coffee wasn't overly sweet and had good aroma, while the durian chunks added natural sweetness and that distinctive flavour. Durian lovers would definitely enjoy this!

Overall Thoughts

This Singapore cafe does something most fish and chips places don't, by getting their fish fresh from the market right next door.

The difference is noticeable, especially in their barramundi, which comes out perfectly flaky and actually tastes like fish rather than frozen nothing.

At around $15 to $19 for mains, it's reasonably priced for the quality. Worth a visit if you're in the area and want something fresher than the usual cafe food!

Would I return? Yes! Would want to try the desserts they offer as well :)
