The Coastal Settlement: One of the Best Cafes in East Singapore
The Coastal Settlement
Located in a quiet area amongst nature & away from the city. The Coastal Settlement offers fusion Western–Asian dishes that thoroughly impressed us. With its beautiful ambience and satisfying food, it’s a great spot for special occasions.
What We Ordered
Half & Half Pizza 💰 $36 · ⭐ 9/10💰 $36 · ⭐ 9/10

You can choose any 2 flavours of pizza for the half and half option! We got wagyu and salami to try. The wagyu slices were incredibly tender and flavourful, and the smoked mushrooms complemented them perfectly. It was definitely my preferred flavour. The salami side was good but nothing too special. Good to order and share if you want some variety!
Duck Leg Confit Linguine 💰 $32 · ⭐ 10/10💰 $32 · ⭐ 10/10

This was so good that we ordered another one immediately after trying it. The creamy laksa cream based pasta paired with super tender yet crispy duck confit was incredible. Easily the best dish we tried and one of the better fusion pastas I've had.
TCS Baby Back Ribs 💰 $42 · ⭐ 9/10💰 $42 · ⭐ 9/10

My favourite after the duck pasta. These fall off the bone tender ribs were seasoned perfectly. The fries that came with it were decent but nothing too special. The portion was generous, which helped justify the higher price point.
TCS Grilled Chicken 💰 $32 · ⭐ 8/10💰 $32 · ⭐ 8/10

Comes with kecap manis seasoning and a generous portion. The chicken wasn't super juicy, but the flavour was good and the serving size was satisfying. Still good overall, just not as memorable as the other mains.
Hokkien Mee 💰 $29 · ⭐ 7/10💰 $29 · ⭐ 7/10

Decent Hokkien mee, but for the high price, I would have expected more. The generous portion of fresh seafood probably explains the cost, but the noodles were lacking that iconic wok hei taste that makes good Hokkien mee special. Would skip this to order their other mains.
Overall Thoughts
This is a good spot for a relaxing and cozy meal with its peaceful nature setting. It's located in a pretty ulu area away from the city which makes it even more of a zen experience. It's a nice change of scenery if you're looking for somewhere more peaceful to dine.
Prices sit on the higher side, with mains ranging from $29 to $42, but some dishes genuinely justify the cost while others i would skip.
Would I return? Yes, and I'll definitely reorder that duck pasta ;p
