What We Ordered
Spicy Miso Beef Sukiyaki Set 💰 $16.90 · ⭐ 8.5/10💰 $16.90 · ⭐ 8.5/10

I always order this when I visit Tamoya. The hotpot is packed with beef and vegetables in a savoury spicy miso broth with mild heat. You can also choose sukiyaki broth if you prefer something sweeter and non spicy. You also get handmade udon, egg, and tofu on the side. At $16.90, the portion size and ingredients make it worth considering if you want something heartier.
Ebi Tempura Gozen 💰 $11.90 · ⭐ 7.5/10💰 $11.90 · ⭐ 7.5/10

This set comes with salad, rice, miso soup, and tempura. The prawn tempura was fresh and still crispy even though we left it out for awhile. The miso soup was nothing unique, just simple and comforting. The set overall is filling for under $12.
Mentaiyaki Ebiko Dry Udon 💰 $13.90 · ⭐ 9/10💰 $13.90 · ⭐ 9/10

I got this with beef and it was so good. The beef was tender and flavourful, while the handmade udon had that chewy texture you expect from good udon. The mentaiko and ebiko added was a nice touch that tied in all the flavours well.
Tempura & Sides

Tempura options start from $1.50, which makes it easy to add on extras. The fried horse mackerel is fragrant and crispy, and the kani cream croquette has a creamy centre that balances well with the crunchy exterior. The chicken karaage was juicy and well seasoned. For the price, the portion sizes and quality of these tempuras are a pretty good deal.
Free Flow Condiments

One nice touch here is the free flow condiments. You can add seaweed, tempura crunch, and corn to customise your bowl however you like.
Overall Thoughts
Tamoya Udon is a practical option for affordable Japanese food in Singapore. The handmade udon stands out, and the pricing makes it accessible for regular visits. This was my fourth or fifth time visiting.
Would I return? Yes for sure.
